An Exclusive 2-Day MBA Level Workshop
for
Corporate Managers
Break the endless cycle of panic solutions leading to unanticipated developments and crises generating further slippage leading to more “fire-fighting” and wasted company effort. Process re-engineering can lead to the redesign of existing business processes to achieve permanent breakthrough improvements in performance.
All too often, organizations approach the task of improving overall performance through a mix of departmental efforts. Little attention is paid to the whole picture or to the potential repercussions of departmental efforts on the rest of the organization. It is precisely this interaction between departments that must be managed for improvement efforts to pervade the entire organization and for improvements to be sustained over time.
Who should attend?
- Executives responsible for implementing change in their organizations.
- Managers asked to do more with fewer people and less resources.
- Managers asked to improve performance and productivity.
As a participant, you will learn how to:
- Understand and Map your business process
- Measure the Existing Processes
- Identify problem areas
- Redesign your business processes to eliminate problem areas
- Set target performance levels to assure productivity gains are maintained
- Apply the techniques in your work environment
Organizational Work Flow and Business Processes provides a practical framework for understanding how the various departments and functions in an organization interrelate and shows how to manage this interaction to enhance the organization's effectiveness.
By coordinating improvement efforts among all areas, managers can use organizational resources more efficiently, minimize departmental conflicts, and create a work environment that leads to better performance.
You will see a demonstration of business process simulation and receive free mapping and process analysis software. This will allow you to redesign and test solutions to business problems before you implement them.
You will have an opportunity to identify, discuss and improve value-added processes within your company
Although not mandatory course participants are encouraged to bring their personal computers
This exclusive 2 day workshop will be facilitated by Bernard Ornstein P. ENG., MBA, MA. Mr. Ornstein, a former senior executive with Canadian National Railways, Mr. Ornstein has worked in areas of capital planning, business development and process improvement and presently focuses on international consulting. Process Maps are the first step in providing a clear, concise statement about how things are (should be) done in any organization. Many ISO protocols now require that Process Maps be provided to assure process integrity and quality standards.
Any human endeavour lends itself to mapping, be it getting up in the morning and deciding whether to go to work; deciding whether a legal action has merit, or deciding who should or should not be admitted to graduate school.
The following illustrations not only illustrate the breadth of possibilities but begin to suggest the range of issues which have to be examined should the process not be providing the anticipated results or levels of customer satisfaction….
Mapping is but the first step to product or service enhancement .
ORGANIZATIONAL WORK FLOW AND BUSINESS PROCESSES will help you begin to tackle these questions by providing the necessary mapping tools for your business process and show you how to get started….

Environmental Management Systems
The Refuse Disposal Division (RDD) of the City of San Diego, California has developed process maps (flow charts) for all of its operations in order to identify the environmental aspects and impacts and thereby initiate the first steps in the process of identifying the significant aspects of its products and services. These process maps are reviewed and updated, as required, annually as required by Sub-clause 4.3.1 (Environmental Aspects). This Sub-clause of the ISO 14001 standard is intended to provide a process for an organization to identify significant environmental aspects that should be addressed as a priority by the organization’s EMS.
